FAQS

FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What is functional medicine, and how is it different from conventional medicine?
Functional medicine is a root-cause approach to healthcare. Rather than just treating symptoms, we ask why you're experiencing them. It integrates the best of conventional medicine with science-backed natural therapies—nutrition, lifestyle, targeted supplementation, and advanced diagnostic testing—to restore balance and function.

2. What kind of training or certification
do you have?

Since beginning my nursing career in 2013, I’ve spent over a decade specializing in functional and integrative medicine, with advanced clinical training in women’s health, chronic infections, and root-cause healing under renowned mentors and organizations like A4M, IFM, ILADS, and ISEAI. 3. What conditions do you treat?

I specialize in women's health, particularly menstrual disorders, perimenopause and menopause, thyroid imbalances (like Hashimoto's), fatigue, gut health, chronic UTIs, interstitial cystitis, and autoimmunity. That said, I am trained as a family nurse practitioner and can support the whole family, from pediatric care to adult chronic disease management.

4. Do you offer virtual visits or in-person appointments?
Yes! I offer both virtual and in-person appointments for patients in Colorado. For those outside of Colorado or the U.S., I offer consultative care (without prescribing).

5. Do you take insurance?
I am a cash-pay practice and do not accept insurance. This allows me to spend more time with each patient, dive deeply into your health history, and provide truly personalized care without the constraints of insurance limitations. I encourage patients to maintain a primary care provider for services that can be billed to insurance.

6. How do I get started as a new patient?
Getting started is easy. Visit my Contact Page and use the online scheduler to book an appointment time that works best for you. Once booked, you’ll receive a welcome packet and intake forms to complete before your first visit. CLICK TO GET STARTED

7. What kind of lab testing do you use?
I use a combination of conventional labs and specialty functional medicine tests to uncover nutrient deficiencies, hormone imbalances, gut dysfunction, toxic burden, immune dysregulation, and more. Examples include stool testing, hormone panels, saliva testing, mycotoxin testing, micronutrient panels, and advanced cardiovascular risk labs.

8. How long does it take to see results?
That depends on the complexity of your condition, how long you’ve been experiencing symptoms, and your commitment to the treatment plan. Some patients begin to feel better within a few weeks, while others take several months to see meaningful change. True healing takes time—and consistency is key.

9. Do you prescribe medications, or only use natural therapies?
I prescribe medications when necessary, but I always aim to use food, lifestyle, herbal, and nutritional therapies first if possible. I believe in blending the best of both worlds.

10. Can I work with you if I’m already seeing a primary care provider or specialist?
Absolutely. I frequently collaborate with other providers and welcome the opportunity to support your existing care team. Many of my patients continue with their PCP while working with me on deeper root-cause healing.

11. Do you work with children, teens, or only adults?
While I specialize in women’s health, I’m trained as a family nurse practitioner and can treat women and their families, including their partners, children, and teens.

12. What happens during the first visit?
Your first visit is a deep dive into your full health history, current symptoms, lifestyle habits, and goals. We’ll review any past labs and determine what further testing might be needed. I’ll create a personalized plan that may include dietary recommendations, lifestyle changes, supplements, or medications.

13. How often will I need follow-up visits?
That depends on your health goals and how complex your case is. Initially, we may meet monthly or every 6–8 weeks. Once you’re stable and improving, we can space out visits to quarterly or biannually for maintenance.

14. What if I live outside your state or country?
If you live outside of Colorado or the U.S., I can work with you in a consultative role. While I cannot prescribe medications in your region, I can order labs and offer education, insight, and guidance based on your history and results.

15. Can you help me if I don’t have a clear diagnosis but just feel “off”?
Yes, and this is actually one of the most common reasons patients seek out functional medicine. If you're tired of being told “everything looks normal” but still don’t feel like yourself, you're in the right place. We dig deeper to uncover root imbalances.

16. What should I bring or prepare for my first appointment?
Please complete your intake forms ahead of time and bring copies of any recent labs, imaging, or relevant medical records. Make a list of your top concerns, symptoms, and goals so we can focus on what matters most to you.
